CNN’s Digital Video team creates original video content for all CNN platforms and social accounts. We write, produce, shoot and edit, working collaboratively across the organization to cover breaking news and important issues. From breaking news to creative features to investigative reports, we tell human-centered stories with the aim of informing, inspiring and engaging the largest global digital audience in news today.

Your New Role…

The producer will be a key member of the CNN video organization, developing and producing video content that will resonate across all CNN’s digital platforms and on off-platform products like YouTube and TikTok. This role will pitch story ideas, gather elements, do research, write scripts, edit video in-house and shoot with high-sensor cameras in the field when called upon. They will also work on sponsored video content and digital shows.

The ideal candidate is a video-first storyteller who loves a fast-paced news environment. He/she is a reporter who values accuracy and fairness; a team player willing to jump in and help out at a moment’s notice. The ideal candidate is extremely comfortable both in the edit suite and out in the field, and understands how to differentiate video for a mobile audience. Sound editorial judgment and creativity are a must, along with an ability to navigate a large deadline-driven organization.

This position can be based in New York, Washington DC or Atlanta.

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Researching, writing scripts and editing video for all digital platforms

  • Monitoring breaking news, live events and search/social trends

  • Brainstorming and regularly generating story ideas for news and features

  • Shooting video in-house and in the field for breaking news and enterprise stories

  • Experimenting with new video formats on multiple platforms to reach a new audience

  • Coordinating with writers and producers across CNN bureaus around the world

Qualifications & Experience…

  • 4+ years of working in a national or major media market

  • Experience reporting and fact-checking stories and identifying characters

  • Strong knowledge of current industry-standard video equipment (Example: FS7)

  • Expertise in post-production software such as Adobe Premiere, Avid NewsCutter or similar

  • Understanding of news values and a love for journalism

  • Track record of collaborating in a deadline-driven environment

  • Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to work holidays, weekends, overnights and extended hours as the news cycle and deadlines require

  • Foreign language skills a plus

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $109,200.00 - $202,800.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
