Job Summary

We are hiring Senior Software Engineers to join our team in Seatlle , WA, /Bay Area, CA or NYC, NY.

The ideal candidate has a track record of having built multiple high-performance, stable, scalable systems that have been successfully shipped to customers in production. Your work and your approach to work are exemplary: you drive best practices and set standards for your team . You are a key influencer in your team’s strategy and contribute significantly to team planning. You show good judgment in making trade-offs between immediate and long-term business needs .

You are a collaborative leader that makes other engineers and team members around you more productive, by sharing your knowledge, and helping to tie-break key technical decisions. You provide mentoring to other engineers.

About the team

The Playback Platform teams build the systems that power the most critical user experience for watching video - across all mobile, desktop, and connected devices on all of Warner Bros Discovery Direct to Consumer products and brands .

Playback Platform is the heartbeat of the backend services that power the iconic watch experience of Game of Thrones and House of Dragons on Max. We are passionate about providing the best possible playback experience to our user s. We manage video from ingestion through playback. We strive to provide a scalable playback platform with fault-tolerant services and flexible players that provide our customers with premium playback experience

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Software Engineer, Playback Platform, you will play an integral part in building the future of Streaming at Warner Bros Discovery’s products and brands ranging from Max, TNT Sports, D+, to many other WBD brands.

  • Help build the backend services that power the playback experiences for millions of subscribers around the world

  • Collaborate with other software engineers and product teams to ensure successful implementation of software solutions to meet our primary goals

  • Analyze and build solutions related to video playback and content protection

  • Mentor the next generation of software engineers

  • Be a leader for driving best engineering practices including testing, code/architecture reviews, and documentation in the role of Senior Software Engineer, Playback Services, you will report to the Manager of Playback Services.

Requirements :

  • You have 5+ years of experience crafting software solutions with a track record for developing solutions used globally by millions of users .

  • You have experience building scalable, fault tolerant backend services.

  • You are experienced with modern programming languages such as TypeScript and Go

  • You have experience working with cloud technologies in AWS or GCP

  • Nice to have

  • You have expertise in video streaming and DRM technologies

  • Expertise in a range of programming languages like C++, java, Elixir, Python, Rust.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $119,700.00 - $222,300.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
