The Tax Operations Manager will directly support US Domestic Indirect Tax compliance including Sales and Use, Gross Receipts, Personal Property, Real Property and, Business License Taxes for all United States brands across: Warner Bros. Studios, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., CNN, HBO, Max, Discovery, and Scripps. This position, along with supporting staff, will report to and partner with the Director of US Indirect Tax and the Sr. Manager to compile all data necessary to ensure accurate, timely, and audit-ready tax filings. This role will also support documenting the accuracy of our financial statements and other ad-hoc reporting to management. This position will also learn and work with the Indirect tax technology on all existing new product launches and Global ERP, P2P and tax engine implementations, ensuring that US Domestic indirect tax needs are identified and communicated to ensure proper compliance reporting.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Generate, retrieve, and process financial data that will allow for the

accurate, timely, and audit-ready of all indirect taxes including Sales/Use,

Gross Receipts, NY Commercial Rent, Personal Property, Real Property

taxes, and Business Licenses.

The role will help the compliance team:

establish data and reporting parameters that satisfy compliance and audit

requirements; retrieve data from various ERP, tax engines, or other internal

constituents; build new process improvements as necessary; Analyze financial

data for inclusion in returns or corrections, calculate taxes due were

necessary; Assist in the management of funding for tax payments; Assist with

monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial statement

reporting; Support the filing of tax returns as necessary

  1. Support the Tax Director on ad-hoc data compilation such as: multi-

jurisdictional audits off all tax types within the scope of US Indirect Tax.

  1. Work with the Sr. Tax Manager maintaining DTC Vertex and AFC tax

engines. Assist with special tax projects as needed to support and reduce

Company tax burdens including quantifying impacts of indirect tax legislative

proposals.

Work Experience

  • 5-7+ years of relative experience working with financial systems (SAP, Vertex, Oracle), and building data compilation processes

  • Accounting or technology background (familiarity with tax compliance a plus)

  • Experience with entertainment/media industry preferred.

  • Experience with various ERP & tax systems including SAP, and Oracle

Knowledge/Skills

  • Working knowledge of financial systems such as, SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, and related systems

  • Working knowledge of data analysis tools such as Excel/Power BI, Alteryx, etc.
