Your New Role: The Sr Analyst Ad Sales Biller will be responsible for directly overseeing a particular Latam region, functions, and processes that support the billing activities of all non-affiliate revenue streams for Discovery businesses located in Latam and will provide monthly insightful reporting of any billing variances, provide trending analysis on key items and explain items that affect service delivery performance, recommend a strategic vision of billing activities, and introduce new and maintain existing systems that will support an efficient billing environment. In addition, will interact regularly with key internal and external stakeholders and will serve as a subject matter expert for invoicing activities within the regions.

As a natural relationship builder with a global view mindset, this role will play a pivotal role in cultivating an environment of trust, value, and transparency that supports and reflects the Discovery Communications brand.

Your Role Accountabilities:

  • Represent the global billing team and liaise with the local Sales, Operations, Legal, and Systems groups in Miami, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, and the United States.

  • Oversee billing and controls in their specific region including those performed by local finance teams and/or third-party accounting firms in the decentralized regional offices.

  • Participate in continual process improvements, implementation of technologies that will provide innovative solutions for billing systems, report design, automation, review, and implementation of industry best practices.

  • Monitor compliance with SOX controls and policies, including system controls for media system(s). Ensure the control environment is strong and the right controls are in place by maintaining an orderly accounting filing system for control documentation.

  • Identify and proactively work to implement process improvements to the billing process.

  • Clear understanding and working knowledge of GAAP along with local billing rules and regulations that impact billing practices.

  • Ensure continuity of the billing process by working closely with the Revenue Accounting team in support of the ease and timeliness for the accounting of revenue.

  • Approve, reconcile, and oversee all pre-billing requests and other manual invoice requests for their region, revenue adjustments, customer accounts receivable write-offs, issuances of credit notes, and invoice adjustments by established policies specifically for LatAm, International, and intercompany.

  • Prepare and send out monthly transmission reports to sales planners and review monthly deferred revenue, unapplied cash, and intercompany B/S reconciliations and roll forwards. Ensure general ledger account information is accurate, consistent, traceable, and auditable.

  • Ensure all Process the DLA month-end close which includes recording the invoice deferred revenue, intercompany ad sales billing, and unapplied cash to the appropriate general ledger accounts as well as ensure that all journal entries have appropriate supporting documentation and approval before recording in SAP.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • B.S. / B.A. university degree in a business discipline with finance designation preferred and/or minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience with at least 5 years of experience supervising a staff of 2 or more including individual contributors.

  • High degree of leadership savviness along with strong written and communication skills.

  • Strong analytical capability focusing on metric identification, implementation reporting and technology identification.

  • Experience working in a $1B plus publicly traded company with multiple sites worldwide.

  • High level of problem-solving and decision-making, focusing on consistent tactical and strategic execution.

  • Experience working in a Media, Cable or Tech company is a plus.

  • Experience working for a publicly traded company with a global presence is also a plus.

  • Must be detail-oriented and able to deliver on multiple timelines, within a customer-centric focused environment, with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential issues.
