Your New Role

This is a key leadership position that will be responsible for supporting all aspects of Physical Production for WB Pictures in EMEA and UK. Reporting directly to the SVP and VP of Physical Production, to lead in the management and delivery of a slate of WB movies from early pre-production through to movie release.

The role will be responsible for ensuring maximum efficiencies across the production slate, and assisting productions in making WBPL the first choice for filmmakers. It will develop, maintain and nurture new and existing contacts in the industry to ensure we are the leaders in producing and delivering content.

The Director will be responsible for liaising with productions, industry partners, agents, internal departments at WBD and closely with the US Physical production and creative team.

The post is based at WB Studios Leavesden, five days a week and may involve regional and International travel. It is advised that the incumbent should be a car owner.

Your Role Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with Senior Execs in WBPL to develop and implement strategic plans and production strategies that align with the studio’s objectives and budgetary constraints.

  • Use Industry knowledge to oversee budgets and schedules of movies of WBPL slate. This will involve creating cashflows, tracking cost reports, budgets and schedules and identifying cost saving opportunities.

  • Risk Management: identify risks and challenges during production and develop mitigation strategies to minimise disruptions and ensure smooth project execution.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, union agreements and safety protocols alongside Health & Safety, maintaining a safe and respectful working environment for all cast and crew members.

  • Design and implement an On and Off boarding system for productions. To ensure it is consistent across shows and accessible to use by filmmakers.

  • Ensure productions are informed and have access to the resources available on WB productions, such as Skills Training, Workplace Nursery, Wellbeing resources etc.

  • Creating and implementing a Tracking and monitoring system for WB assets, during and after a production wraps. Have knowledge of available storage spaces and have oversight and guidance with Production Managers on productions to ensure assets are stored and monitored efficiently.

  • Look for efficiencies and consistencies in the operation of WB film productions and produce reports for discussion and approval. Proactively look for ways to enhance the services of WBPL.

  • Update content of the Production Manual to reflect changes in company policy, latest industry standards and company practices.

  • Work with the US Film Group and liaise with US Director of Physical production, in maintaining consistency across the Film Group.

  • Partner with HBO and WBTV for their UK shows in sharing assets and updating them on UK production procedures (when required).

  • Organising and liaising between productions and WB divisions such as Crew HQ, HR, Security, Legal, Finance, External Affairs, DEI, Comms, Insurance etc.

  • Oversee external consultants and supplementary workforce.

  • Talent Management: cultivate and maintain strong relationships with top tier industry talent including directors, producers, writers, actors, crew and vendors to assist in the assembling of world class teams for each project.

  • Identify opportunities to leverage new tools, workflows and technologies to enhance productivity and quality across film projects.

  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies and best practices in film production, and leverage industry insights to drive innovation.

  • Uphold high standards of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism. Setting a positive example for the WBPL production team.

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive production environment by building strong relationships with production teams, filmmakers and external partners. Facilitate effective communication and problem-solving to address challenges and resolve conflicts as they arise.

  • Occasional International travel may be necessary for this position.

Experience and Skills

  • Extensive Experience in Film or HETV, with a proven track record of successfully managing large scale productions.

  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of physical production, including budgeting scheduling, crew management, post-production and production logistics.

  • Experience of software programs such as Movie Magic Budgeting and Scheduling Embershot, Schenecronize, Crewstart, Synch on set, Asset Hub.

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with filmmakers and Stakeholders.

  • In depth understanding of industry trends, technologies and best practices.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking with a focus on continued improvement.

  • Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

  • Deep understanding of industry regulations, union agreements and legal considerations related to film production in the UK.

Onsite Working - This role is advertised as Onsite, meaning all working hours and days (regardless of shift pattern) will be carried out at the place of work.
